3          Many possessions.

19:16-30

.. One approaching

16 And behold one approaching to him said; Teacher what good thing may I do that I may have life eternal? And he said to him; 17 Why me questionest thou concerning the good? one is the good; but if thou wishest into life to enter, keep the commandments. 18 He says to him: Which? And Jesus said: Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour the(thy) father and the(thy mother, and Thou shalt love the neighbour of thee as thyself. 20 Says to him the young man; These things all I kept; what yet do I lack? 21 Said to him Jesus If thou wishest perfect to be, go sell of thee the belongings and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heavens; and come follow me. 22 But hearing the young man word (this) went away grieving; for he was having possessions many. 23 So Jesus said to the disciples of him; Truly I tell you that a rich man hardly will enter into the kingdom of the heavens. 24 And

24 And again I tell you, easier it is a camel through the eye of a needle to enter than a rich man into the kingdom of God 25 And hearing the disciples were astounded exceedingly saying: Who then can to be saved? 26 And looking upon Jesus said to them; With men this impossible is, but with God all things are possible. 27 Then answering Peter said to him; Behold we left all things and followed thee; what then shall we have to us 28 And Jesus said to them; Truly I tell you that ye the ones having followed me, in the regeneration, when sits the Son of man on the throne of glory of him, ye will sit also yourselves on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for the sake of my name, manifold will receive and life eternal will inherit. 30 But many will be first last and last first.

4          Making demands.

20:1-16

Housemaster paying c/f agreement

Ch 20:1 For like is the kingdom of heavens to a man a housemaster, who went out early in the morning to hire workmen in the vineyard of him. 2 and agreeing with the workmen out of denarius the day he sent them into the vineyard of him. 3 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing in the marketplace idle, 4 and to those said; (Note: Jesus as compared with housemaster)Go also ye into the vineyard, and whatever may   be just I will give you. and they went. 5 And again going out about the sixth and ninth hour he did similarly. 6 And about the eleventh going he found others standing and says to them; Why here stand ye all the day idle? 7 They say to him; Because no one us hired. He says to them; Go also ye into the vineyard. 8 And evening having come says the lord of the vineyard to the steward

of him. Call the workmen and pay the wage, beginning from the last ones until the first. 9 And coming the ones about the eleventh hour received each a denarius. 10 And coming the first supposed that more they will receive; and they received the each denarius also themselves. 11 And receiving they grumbled against the housemaster saying 12 These the last one hour wrought and equal them to us thou madest the ones having borne the burden of the day and the heat. 13 But he answering one of them said; Comrade, I do not injure thee; not of (for) a denarius thou didst agree with me? 14 take the thine and go. But I wish to this the last man to give as also to thee 15 Is it not lawful to me what I wish to do among the my things? or the eye of thee evil is because I good am? 16 thus will be the last ones first and the first last.

5          Condemnation. . . .

20:17-20

They will deliver him

17 And being about to go up Jesus to Jerusalem he took the twelve privately and in the way said to them: 18 Behold we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and

scribes, and they will condemn him to death, 19 and they will deliver him to the nations for to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and on the third day he will be raised.

6          Ambition . . .

20:20-28

Request of Zebedee sons

20 Then approached to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with the sons of her doing obeisance and asking something from him. 21 And he said to her: what wishest thou? She says to him: Say that may sit these the two sons of me one on the right and one on the left of thee in the kingdom of thee. 22 And answering the Jesus said: Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye to drink the cup which I am about to bring? They say to him: We can 23 He says to them: Indeed the cup of me ye shall drink, but to sit on the right of me and on the left is not mine this to give, but to whom it

has been prepared by the Father of me. 24 And hearing the ten were incensed about the two brothers. 25 So Jesus calling forward them said: Ye know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them and the great ones have authority over them. 26 Not thus is it among you, but whoever wishes among you great to become will be of you servant, 27 and whoever wishes among you to be first, he shall be of you slave, 28 as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give the life of him a ransom instead of many.
