Ch
23:1 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to the
disciples of him 2 saying: On the of Moses seat sat the scribes and the
Pharisees. 3 All things therefore whatever they may tell you do ye and keep,
but according to the works of them do ye not; for they say and do not. 4
And they bind burdens heavy and put on the shoulders of men; but they with
the finger of them not are willing to move them. 5 But all the works of
them they do for to be ween by men; for they broaden the phylacteries of
them and enlarge the fringes, 6 and they like the chief place in the
suppers and the chief seats in the synagogues 7 and the greetings in the
marketplaces and to be called by men rabbi. 8 But ye be not called rabbi;
for one is of you the teacher, and all ye brothers are. 9 And father cal ye
not of you on the earth; for one is of you the Father heavenly. 10 Neither
be ye called leaders, because leader of you is one the Christ. 11 And the
greater of you shall be of you servant. 12 and he who will exalt himself
shall be humbled and he who will humble himself shall be exalted. 13 But
woe to you, scribes and Pharisees hypocrites, because ye shut the kingdom
of the heavens before men: for ye do not enter nor the tones entering do y
allow to enter. 15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees hypocrites because ye
go about the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and when he
becomes ye make him a son of gehenna twofold more than you. 16 Woe to you,
leaders blind the ones saying: Whoever swears by the shrine noting it is;
but whoever swears by the gold of the shrine, he owes. 17 Fools and blind,
for which greater is, the gold or the shrine sanctifying the gold. 18 and
whoever swears by the latter, nothing it is; but whoever swears by the gift
upon it, he owes. 19 Blind, for which is greater the gift or the altar
sanctifying the gift? 20 Therefore the one swearing by the altar swears by
it and by all the things upon it; 21 and the one swearing by the shrine
swears by it and by the one inhabiting it. 22 And the one swearing by the
heaven swears by the throne of God and by the one sitting upon it. 23 Woe to you,

scribes
and Pharisees hypocrites, because ye tithe the mint and the dill and the
cummin, and ye have left the heavier things of the law, judgement and mercy
and faith; but these things it behoved to do and those not to leave. 24
Leaders blind, the ones straining the gnat, but the camel swallowing. 25
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees hypocrites, because ye cleanse the outside
of the cup and the dish, but within they are full of robbery and
intemperance. 26 Pharisee blind, cleanse thou first the inside of the cup
that may be also the outside of it clean. 27 Woe to you, scribes and
Pharisees hypocrites, because ye resemble graves having been whitewashed,
who outwardly indeed appear beautiful, but within they are full of bones of
dead men and of all uncleanness. 28 thus also ye outwardly indeed appear to
men righteous, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and of lawlessness 29
Woe to you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites, because ye build the graves of
the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say: If we
were in the days of the fathers of us, we would not have been of them
partakers in the blood of the prophets. 31 So ye witness to yourselves that
sons ye are of the ones having killed the prophets. 32 And ye fulfil the
measure of the fathers of you. 33 Serpents, offspring of vipers, how escape
ye from the judgment of gehenna? 34 Therefore behold I send to you prophets
and wise men and scribes of them ye will kill and will crucify, and of them
ye will scourge in the synagogues of you and will persecute from city to
city: 35 so comes on you all blood righteous being shed on the earth from
the blood of Abel the righteous until the blood of Zacharias son Barachias,
whom ye murdered between the shrine and the altar. 36 Truly I tell you,
will come all these things on generation this. 37 Jerusalem Jerusalem, the
one killing the prophets and strong the ones sent to her, how often I
wished to gather the children of thee as a bird gathers the young of her
under the wings, and ye wished not. 38 Behold is left to you the house of
you 39 For I tell you, by no means me ye see from now until ye say: Blessed the one coming in the name of
the Lord.
